Hanahan Christmas Parade

Zeke and Sadie officially kicked off the Christmas season by attending the Hanahan Christmas Parade.  Zeke found a good spot to catch all the action and dressed for the occasion.
This was a cool golden retriever dressed as Santa Claus on a float in the parade.
Zeke liked the Snowman float AND the big ol' dog biscuits that some thoughtful parade participants handed out.  Happy Holidays Y'all!

Fall has arrived in the lowcountry

Weather is perfect for big dogs who love to play outside.  Yesterday, Zeke went to Wannamaker County Park.

Blue Ridge Hiking

We just got back from a great family vacation in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina.  We stayed at an awesome site called Bear Den campground.  They even offer pet friendly cabins!  With quick access to great hiking trails, like Zeke - seen above at Lower Linville falls.
This is at Crabtree falls.  It was definitely more crowded but then we did go to this one on a Saturday.
Zeke, Sadie and their Dad.  We all had a blast and look forward to future trips there.

Dog Day at the Waterpark

It was time for the annual Dog Day Afternoon at Whirln' Waters waterpark today.  Zeke fed his swimming jones in the Big Kahuna wave pool and we walked around the Lazy River and Otter Bay puppy pool.   We also met up with some friends - Sparky and Fern!

Sassy from Lowcountry Lab Rescue

This is Sassy with Zeke and Sadie, we are fostering her for Lowcountry Lab Rescue.  She is about 10 months old and was an owner surrender in Colleton County.   She is very sweet, loves belly rubs and is learning to be a professional fetcher.

Sky Dog Family Dog Park

We visited Sky Dogs Family Dog Park a couple weeks ago. It was our first time to this private dog park in Summerville. For non-members it was $3 a person to entry fee and that got you access all day. It was a pretty cool place, they have some food and beverages available for purchase as well as televisions setup and corn hole boards.
In the off-leash area, they have agility equipment, and we got Zeke to try some of it out.  He jumped over the bar a few times, but then decided cheating was a better option.

Here is Zeke coming off the balance beam.  He's no Gabby Douglas, but I think he scores well on style.  They have several other agility obstacles, which makes for a nice break up from the normal open grassy area of a dog park.

The owner told us they have plans to put in a dock dogs style dock and pool.  We love that idea and hope to see it soon!!!

Boating with the neighbors.

Our awesome next-door neighbors invited Zeke and Sadie to come out for a morning boat ride.  Zeke was pretty nervous riding in the boat and it took until the return trip before he really started to get used to it.
We anchored out from Horseshoe Island and let the dogs play in the shallow water.
Sadie jumped in after a lot of encouragement.
Miller and Zeke had an fantastic time running around in the water. Here they await the next bumper throw.
Miller takes in a nice view of East Bay.   Miller also was on the look out for pelicans, he had no qualms about jumping out of the boat at full speed to go after them.

Sadie was the opposite of Zeke and hopped on the bow of the boat like she had been doing it her whole life.
It was definitely a blast!

Dudley - Lowcountry Lab Rescue

This is Dudley, a senior labby in foster care with Lowcountry Lab Rescue.  We are dog-sitting while his foster family is on vacation.  Dudley is a nice old boy but he has a tough time with his joints and navigating our stairs.  Life just operates at a slower pace for Dudley.  So we were all surprised when he decided to jump into our kiddie pool and cool off! Once a water dog, always a water dog.

Post Independence Day

Zeke celebrated Independence Day with mom in the kiddie pool! Miller and his mom came over and played in the pool with us too. Then Zeke had a cookout and hung out with a bunch of cool people - he made the wise choice to ride out the fireworks from the safety of the couch.

Miller's back!

Zeke's best friend and next door neighbor has been gone on vacation for a whole week!  But Miller is back now and lab play time can resume. They started licking each other through the fench when they first saw one another again.   Then some serious romping and games of tug happened, Mom caught a quick photo while they were resting.

Morning Swim

Mom is out of town for a while, so Dad took us for a swim, there was a raft of geese there, but I did not mind, got to play with my bumper and Sadie went for a good swim and did some running around.

Pics from Pet Fest

Zeke and his friend Sparky went to 2012 CCPRC Pet Fest together this year.  Here they are posing in front of the PetSmart tent.  I think Sparky makes Zeke look huge from this perspective.
Zeke donated $5 to Humane Net for a chance to try out the dock dogs pool.  Zeke opted to take the ramp instead of a jump, but had a good swim anyway.  He also got some cool free stuff from other vendors, I think our favorite was the portable waterbowl from Veterinary Specialists.

St. Paddy's Block Party

Today Zeke and company went down to the block party in old town North Charleston, to enjoy St. Patrick's Day.  There was a great crowd, several bands playing and lots of places to get tasty treats and beverages.
Zeke and Mom dance a jig.
It's a great day for green.
Watching the Parade come down East Montague.
