surprise visit
This is Zeke's sister Lucy. Her dad had to stop by my work today and he had her riding along. Lucy is just precious!
Lucy visited with Zeke a few weeks after we had them and they romped really hard, with Lucy most definitely putting it on Zeke. Zeke is looking forward to getting better so he can play with Lucy again.

locked up!
Zeke is five months old today!!!!!!!! It's been awhile since we posted, but we've been overwhelmed with keeping Zeke still and calm so he doesn't mess the plate up any more. That translates to in the crate or someone laying on the floor with him at all times--it makes for some long days.
Here is his incision with the staples out, its healing nicely. The fur is coming back in, too bad he'll have to go thru all that again when the plate comes out.

staples out, crate in
He's not allowed to come to work anymore, per the dr's orders, even riding in a car could be too much movement for his leg. We have him crate confined and only out for bathroom breaks. Instead of the sling being a safety net as we orignally understood, we are now to support the weight on his hindquarters and only let his feet touch the ground, no load bearing. Set up a midday visit with the pet sitter so they could let him out.
We go back in two weeks, unless we notice any set backs.

medical update
We have some fun times to relieve stress...
So Zeke might not think its actually fun times--he kind of looks put out to me. The vet gave us this satellite dish to keep Zeke from chewing on his staples, but Zeke, being the super pup he is, hasn't bothered them in the least. So he doesn't have to wear the cone, except for last night for a photo op.
As for Zeke's status, he is getting along very well, I have started reducing his pain meds a little so he does not fall prey to addiction and find himself like so many other dogs relagated to a life on the streets.
He climbed the stairs yesterday and went back down them with a little extra support. Zeke is back to work with me, he mostly stays in my office as the floors in the hallways are too slick for him and he is still on medical orders to stay calm and quiet. I think everyone is glad to have him back.
