9 month update

Zeke turned nine months old yesterday. I took him to PetSmart to pick out a bone and do the weigh-in. He is at 83.2 lbs. So it looks like we might finally be reaching a plateau (which is great , we thought he might end up at 95 pounds or more!).
We have officially transistioned from Large Breed Puppy Chow to regular dog food. He and Sadie are eating the same stuff and both getting a raw egg twice a week. We've started to notice some more shedding.
The above picture is a paw art Zeke made for me at Paws in the Park last weekend.

fan mail... well, kinda

In May, Zeke was featured on my company's website (here is that post). Today I recieved a letter from a vendor introducing me to her company and products (a wire and cable manufacturer), she included a handwritten note that she saw Zeke's page and attached an extra page of information about some herbal supplements she uses for her German Shepherd's arthiritis. It was very considerate of her to send that info. Below is a scan of her note, the links that she sent , and some pictures of her babies.

Field Day

Yikes! I did not mean for it to be over a week since we posted. Thumper has been working on a little video, and its been my fault we haven't got that up yet. We had a good weekend. It rained like monsoon season Friday and so the creek where they play became a rushing river and both Sadie and Zeke got good swims. Zeke and I then went to Paws in the Park where we walked to raise money for the animal shelter and entered the tail wagging contest (sadly we did not win). Below are some pictures from yesterday doing some training and playing in the field.

Zeke at Work Part 4

"Dogs love organ music!" says George our Allen Organ salesman. I think what is more true is that organists love dogs. In these pictures Zeke helps George prepare for a Church Organ Workshop by requesting a rousing rendition of "To God Be the Glory".

Mom Really Likes Brownies Best

Mom really does prefer brownies to cake, Dad put some frosting on (maybe a little to thick) fired up some candles and we have Mom's Birthday. Dad thinks frosting can never be to thick.

Mackie the cat is pretty interested too, he likes candles.

I think Mom picked me because my color and brownies are so similar.

Happy Birthday Mom from the kids.

Dad's Birthday Party

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ZEKE'S DAD!

Today is Zeke's Dad's birthday, last night we had family over and had some cake.

Birthday smooches from Sadie and Zeke!

Also last night it was interesting, a younger member of the family was over and playing tug with Zeke. Now Zeke is very strong and very hardcore about the game of tug. He can literally drag me across the room. Z probably could have flung this little lady across the room if he had wanted to, but he was so gentle tugging with her. I thought it was pretty amazing, like he knew he shouldn't be rough with her. Very cool, Zeke.

hop in the way back machine

Since we are on a little bit of a hiatus until we we get the staples out, thought I would wax nostaligic for a moment.

drying off

Zeke took his first swim by surprise to him, he was following Sadie and she ran into the water. I'm not sure he new what to think about being soaking wet, he started shivering, so dad picked him up and got him warm and dry again.

Taken on 3/26/08.

Post Surgery Again

Here is a shot of Zeke recovering from having the plate removed from his leg yesterday, looks almost like the same picture from June except he is much bigger now. He is resting so he can get back to the fun he normally has.

Plate Removal Surgery

Zeke went to the doctor yesterday to follow up on getting the plate removed from his leg. I had talked with the office previously to get an idea of cost and recovery time. What I didn't find out is that evidently that is an outpatient procedure.

I took him yesterday around 10:30 and they tell me I can probably pick him up around 4pm. Which was a nice surprise, I didn't really want him to have to stay in the hospital overnight. The plate came out okay, the one screw that broke off has been covered by bone, so that's staying in as a reminder of this fun time.

He was so out of it when I picked him up. His leg is shaved again and the incision is just as big as before (Zeke's dad is supposed to have some pictures up later today). Restricted activity level for 3 weeks. Right now he seems really sore on that leg.

Zeke whined all evening, slept for a little bit and then whined some more. I stayed downstairs on the couch with him from 2am till time to go to work. He was definitely doing some better this morning. We got a little tail wag out of him and he ate all of his breakfast. Z is staying at home with dad today.

Happy Birthday Sarah!

Zeke sends out slobbery birthday wishes to his friend OboeSarah, who is fond of Zeke despite an aversion to big dogs.
