might be time for a bigger bed!

I'm not sure a queen size bed is going to fit 2 adults and 130lbs of lab!

SIX MONTHS OLD!!!!

Today Zeke and his 8 brother and sisters turn 6 months old. I was going to bake him something homemade but he has had a lot of scooby snacks at work today. Zeke weighs in today at 64.2lbs... I have no idea how I am still picking him up to put him in the truck.

In other lab related news, the AP ran a story about a 7 year old labrador retriever running for mayor in Fairhope, Alaska. Cool, huh?

beach day!

Today was Zeke first trip to the beach! (Recall that we tried to go to the beach on Memorial Day and Zeke broke his leg). We just took a quick run in the waves and I threw the frisbee for him. Zeke loved the ocean -- would like to have some pictures -- but not enough to take my camera out on the SANDY beach. So this one of him on the dune heading out to the boardwalk will have to do.

McAlisters for lunch

It's Zeke's first weekend off of dr's restrictions so we celebrated with a trip to McAlister's Deli. (Honestly we will take any excuse to go to McAlister's) The crew at McAlister's is fantastic; they brought out Zeke and Sadie some water bowls and of course they both had a few potato chips.

Its important to always have your hip waders with you...

because you never know when you might find an opportunity for some fun.

We also learned the hard way the importance of also keeping a towel or two handy.
Taken at Noisette Creek on the way to work this morning.

great news

Zeke had a great report from the vet today. The x-rays show the bone has bridged and looking good, there is some bow of the bone, but the doctor believes that will remodel over time. The plate still needs to come out, but not immediately, so we are going to give Z a month or so before we deal with another surgery.

He is cleared to walk off the sling, go up and down stairs, jump on soft surfaces and most importantly come back to work. He has to ease into running because he needs to rebuild the muscle that hasn't been used as much.

HOORAY!

off to the vet

Time for seven weeks post-op visit. And *fingers crossed* no more sling and resuming some activity level.

new crate

This is crate numero four; it's nice and spacious as Zeke and I both were hanging out in it over the weekend. Sister Sadie has one just like this and she thinks it is awesome, but she doesn't like to share.

Happy Independence Day!!!

Zeke is celebrating his first Fourth of July by kissing babies like a good politician. BTW, doesn't she have the coolest hair?

Actually, we are having a fun day of family and hotdogs (and Zeke is one HOT dog)! Happy Independence Day all, be safe.
