When Zeke works on Saturdays he gets to see the students who are coming in for their music lessons with Ms Rachel. Here he is with a dog loving brother and sister who are always so much fun!

Zeke and Mack the cat

Granny tells us she doesn't see enough of Mack the cat on the blog, and she is not easily dissuaded by the fact that its not a Mack the cat blog. So here is proof that Mack is alive and well and does hang out with Zeke and it looks like they both have the same snobby attitude.

Zeke versus duck

We stopped by Edisto Memorial Gardens today as it was Zeke's first trip to the greater O'burg area. Lots of cool places, beautiful flowers and nice scenic boardwalks along the marsh and river.

Zeke was sitting by the pond when this duck started swimming menacingly toward him, then they went into full battle of wills stare-down mode. I think the duck was the victor, I'm just proud of Z for not diving in straight after him.

SEWE 2009

Zeke's first trip to watch the retriever demos at SEWE was pretty rainy, but it was still fun. Lots of people had their dogs there because Dock Dogs competition was also happening.

Here is the other card Zeke sent out to a cute yellow lab he met and made some amorous advances towards. But she's already got a beau.

Zeke has a busy weekend coming up , he is going to his first Southeastern Wildlife Expo (SEWE). But he did not forget the upcoming holiday, Zeke made cards for his sweethearts.

The inside reads "I'm a fireman, I'm and expert in what's HOT". You might recall the 'Fox Girls', Darlynn and Ladee, who came to his birthday party.

Only showing one card today as the second has not yet been delivered.

Since the weather was such a major improvement; the whole family loaded up and went to our favorite swimming hole in the national forest. Several other labs also thought this was a great idea. We met Abby and Dawson. 11 year old brother and sister.

Abby was beating everyone to the stick.

Zeke tried to force some of his puppy exuberance down Dawson's throat, but Dawson set him straight.

We also hiked a little bit after the pups got their swim on.

skeet range

Dad was helping out as a volunteer range master today at the skeet and trap range at the Air Force base, so Zeke decided to go by and visit. Zeke isn't scared by shotgun fire and likes chilling out at the club house where there tend to be alot of lab lovers. He also hung out on the trap hill while mom shot a round.

Zeke went for a swim this morning, the temperature is finally returning to sane values. Getting ready to go get some lunch and check out the hot labs at the dog park.

This past thursday Zeke went to the vet for a hip x-ray to be sent off to OFA for preliminary hip certification. The vet said he looked healthy, but the OFA was a bit of a crap shoot. So we send it in and wait for the results.

Below is a really bad photo of the X-ray but you can see the screw that had to stay in from his broken leg surgery.

There is a certain law of nature that states that if there is water a lab will find it. And it clearly doesn't matter if the temperature is below freezing. We went on our walk this morning and Zeke decided to cruise through the creek emerging with some frost on his fur. Now sure hunting labs do this all the time, but Zeke is a young southern boy so this was his first.

puppy bowl pregame

In preparation for Puppy Bowl V and the Super Bowl; we spent yesterday morning at the dog park. Sadie ran the Indy 500 and Zeke played with some pretty Rottweilers and a Great Dane.
