We got a few more miles logged on hiking the Swamp Fox passage of the Palmetto Trail and ran across this hog foot! Then about 20 yards later, we found the other one...no other parts around. Wonder what ate the rest of it??

catching up

Bewteen the holidays and our road trip, Zeke's blogging has been falling behind. So here are a few wrap up pictures, and a hope that 2010 is a labberiffic year. While in WV, Zeke didn't find too many dog friends, but he did take up with Sunshine: Aunt Robin's aged golden retriever. Too bad Sunshine tried to turn Zeke into a railroad hobo.

We're going to hike the Swamp Fox passage of the Palmetto trail this year! Here we started the year out January 3rd in horribly cold conditions around trail marker #42.

We also have made a couple trips to the dog park, met some cool dog friends and learned how to jump on picnic tables.

So at the end of 2009, Zeke has resigned from his position as greeter at Fox Music, so mom can go back to school for another degree. School starts monday for mom, so that will be an adjustment for Zeke, but in theory it should give more time for training and playing. Zeke's got a birthday coming up at the end of the month, he will be 2 years old! Have to start planning for his party now.

We always try to expose Zeke to the educational and historic context of the places we visit, and on our recent trip to WV/KY Zeke was able to see the original site of what is considered the catalyst of the Hatfield-McCoy feud. The Hog Trial. The historical marker.

Back from WV and the snow

Zeke and Mom have returned from their latest adventure; a trip to the mountains of WV. We had a wonderful time playing and walking on the Hatfield McCoy trail. It was during the week so it was quiet and the snow made it very beautiful. It was Zeke's first time seeing snow, not that impressed.

brush with the law?

Zeke and mom tried to go for a run at the Summerville Sawgrass trail but they still have our area off of Luden Drive blocked by all kinds of heavy equipment. So we had to come up with plan B and decided to try to swim at the Ponds. Though it was cold, Zeke swam some and then Z and mom played frisbee. Zeke made some killer catches. Just as we had loaded up to leave, two sheriff's patrol cars pull up behind us; one gets out wants to know what we are doing and if we live there. We said no and just playing frisbee. Then he told us to have a good day and left. Kinda random, I think where we were is open to the public, maybe we just looks shifty.

Just got back from Wannamaker Dog park. When we first arrived Xyla the young Belgian Malmois was all alone so we got her up and running. Then Duke, an older Weim, showed up and Zeke aggravted him by constanly sniffing. Then a 6 month old German shepherd boy showed up followed by a boxer named Jaeger, pretty soon it was just the young boys running the show.

We've had our post park treat, now its time for a nap.

Went hiking on the Palmetto trail this morning and then stopped for a break to swim and play in the lake.

Zeke also did some sand digging.

Zeke and Sadie went to the Wassamasaw Dog Park after work and finally lucked into having some friends to play with. One dog was especially fun because he was a RUNNER (like Forrest Gump meets Usain Bolt) so the pups had a great time with that. Now we are all going to crash on the couch.

Zeke got invited to a party this past Saturday to watch football and play with all his friends and eat yummy food. It was hosted by his friends Laidee and Darlynn Fox.

Thanksgiving Week in Review

Tuesday morning we went to our current favorite swimming spot, then we stopped by All is Well (a pet health food store) Summerville location for the first time. They have great toys and treats and really helpful people. Zeke and Sadie picked up deer antler chews which they have been enjoying all week.

Since mom and dad were both off of work, Wednesday we made plans to head to the beach. Being November we tried to dress warm but the winds were minimal and made things really great.

After some great wave crashing ocean super fetching, Zeke thought it would be a blast to dig a hole in the sand.

and YAY! Its officially Turkey Day, some of Zeke's family came over to visit and we all had a blast.

Black Friday: Zeke slept in, while mom tried to find some deals, then we loaded up for short hike at Marrington Plantation.

Zeke is on vacation this week! We started the morning with a very foggy run and then dropped off some things at the Habitat ReStore.

Then we came home and waited on Lowe's to bring the new refrigerator, which has arrived and recieved Zeke's approval.

We have doing some remodeling of Zeke's house and that has put BIG FUN on the back burner and made posting rather sparse and dull, but most of the work is done now and hopefully some pictures will be up soon.

bluffs point and stressful dogs

Zeke and mom went out deer watching again, this time out to Bluffs Point. And also saw some turkey tracks, but alas, no turkeys.

Things were going swell until Zeke heard someone else talking in the woods and BOLTED from mom at mach 2, wouldn't respond to calls or whistle. After a few minutes yelping was heard in the distance and then Z comes barreling back to his mom. We couldn't locate any injuries, but have no idea what went down.

At that point mom packed it up and got back to the truck as quick as possible.
