Zeke has been showing off some new outfits at work the past two weeks. Above he is wearing his new palmetto state bandanna, and below is the dog biscuit pattern kerchief his momma just made for him.

Zeke went hiking on the Palmetto Trail this morning and even though it was really hot, everyone had an awesome time. We found a spot where Zeke and Sadie could get in the lake and they swam around and played to cool off before hiking back to the trailhead. Now its time to cool off on the tile!

About dinner time yesterday our doorbell rang ...

Neighbor: Are you missing a dog?

Zeke's Dad: (Looks down at barking dogs) No both of ours are right here.

Neighbor: Oh, there is a dog over by the mailboxes that looks like yours.

So we go over to the mailboxes and sure enough a petite female black lab is running around. She has on a yellow collar that says "Zoe" and is friendly enough with some treats and comes with us. We take her into the house and she meets Zeke and Sadie and fun times ensue. We called the number on her collar and left a voicemail. So she gets to hang out at the lab compound for awhile. Zoe is VERY quick and obviously young ready to romp with Zeke.

They all had fun chasing each other (and one incidence of chasing the cat) and ended up panting on the floor. Then Zeke's dad tried the # again and got ahold of Zoe's dad. He was totally surprised, did not know she had gotten out! He came by and picked her up on the way home. He lives in our neighborhood so the kids made a new friend last night!

Zeke went to Riverfront park this morning and they have added new random pieces of art along the river.

Mom has been very busy!!

Just a note to let you know that Mom has been very busy. She spent most of last weekend in Asheville. Zeke of course stayed home with his Dad. Now Mom leaves for an over night visit to Atlanta with Wham and to be there when the Brave's retire Greg Maddux's number on Friday night. She is flying so she will be home in time for lunch on Saturday.

Sometimes its tough for Zeke to get going in the morning, but the bucks usually helps with a pick me up.

Happy Independence Day!

Zeke loves the Fourth of July! He got off work early yesterday and is going to enjoy some hotdogs from the grill this evening. For lunch today we all went to McAlisters dressed to show our patriotic spirit. Tonight Zeke is going to try and relax away from noisy fireworks.

Senior Chief Zeke of is modeling the new Navy Work Uniform, a stylish 'digital' blue camo. He is sorry he hasn't posted in a while but has been very busy avoiding the heat. Zeke tries to get his play time in early in the morning and then relax in the cool during the hottest parts of the day. He was also very disturbed by this nasty business with Gov. Sanford, Zeke met him earlier this year (See posts here and here), and Zeke liked the governor a lot--total bummer.


The bugs are also out in full force now that it is so wonderfully humid in SC. Zeke got into some fire ants or something like that and ended up with a bunch of bumps from infected bites on his head. Dr. Chad gave him some antibiotics, but we guess its just going to be a casualty of playing in the woods so much.

Fathers Day and Dog Days

For Father's Day Zeke's dad wanted to go to the baseball game, because it was also the third dog day game of the season for the Charleston Riverdogs. It was pretty hot, so we didn't stay for the whole game, but Zeke got to see about 6 innings of shutout baseball. Its a dog day Fathers Day at the Joe!

Buddy's Barber Shop

Need a haircut but don't want your lab to be lonely? Buddy's Barber Shop is Zeke's solution! Whenever dad needs a trim he goes to see the dog loving stylists at Buddy's. Dad gets a good haircut and Zeke gets loving while sitting in the waiting area. Zeke was a very good boy today, he came inside and laid right down without an fuss. The sound of the clippers might have made him a little nervous.

Montreux Bar and Grill

Zeke ate out this week at Montreux Bar and Grill in Summerville. They keep moving the outside seating around so it has been hard to figure out when we can go there (evidently you cannot serve alcohol on the sidewalk in front of of the restaurant, but its okay if the tables are setup on the side of the building). Anyway, it finaly worked out, and Zeke got to help dad and mom with their delicious dinners. He got his own pie plate with cold water. Definitely a cool place to eat and hang out. Zeke out front.

USAF Heritage Aire Celtic Ensemble

This evening Zeke went to the Air Force Heritage Aire Celtic Ensemble concert where dad was running sound. The group is based out of Langley AFB but tour all over the world. When they arrived during setup, they were very excited to see Zeke and everyone came over to pet him. It was a great concert and Zeke had a lovely well behaved time.
